EVS Project for Class 9 Students: Topics and Sample Projects

Here’s how to make Environmental Science (EVS) Projects for Class 9 students. Find sample projects and best practices to incorporate while making EVS projects.

As part of EVS projects, students are expected to research and write on topics concerning the environment and planet such as effects of climate change, pollution, conservation, air quality, water quality, and so on.

Project Structure

Students are expected to submit the project in hand-written format in Spiral interleaved book.

You can keep the following structure for the project, in case the structure is not provided by the school.

Index page – Introduction – Content – Conclusion – Bibliography – Acknowledgements (optional).

The number of pages to be written will be provided by the school. In case, it is not provided, you may write around 4 pages for the main content and about 1 page for each of the remaining sections.

EVS PROJECT Topics for Class 9

Conservation of Biodiversity

AIM: To study the causes and effects of loss of Biodiversity and the methods of conservation of Biodiversity.

Practical Experience: Trip to Zoological Park in Mysore.
Research: Make notes for project writing. Research on various methods of Conservation of Biodiversity. Content to be Covered (as per scope of Syllabus).

With reference to Biodiversity:

  • Reasons for loss of biodiversity- impact of man’s actions on the earth’s resources.
  • Reasons for concern: economic, ecological and aesthetic reasons.
  • Conserving our genetic resources:
    In-situ methods – wildlife sanctuaries, national parks and biosphere reserves.
    Ex-situ methods – zoological parks, botanical gardens, gene banks in agricultural research centers and forestry institutions.
  • Describe any one Conservation strategy at international levels.
  • How can you, as a student, help in conservation of Biodiversity?

Project Topic: EVS project on landfills.

Visit the nearest landfill to collect statistics related to dumping, understand the types of trash that are dumped in the landfill, and understand the problem areas such as the varied type of wastes such as tires, construction materials, plastics, appliances, and computer parts. Propose solutions to such landfill problems.

Assess and measure packaging materials that are commonly used in common products and propose solutions to reduce the amount of packaging and increase the use of recyclable materials such as corn-based packaging.

Track statistics for the waste generated by your family by keeping count of of waste and recyclables produced over a week, and list how much waste is produced. Find out the population of your locality to to estimate the total amount of waste generated each week and each year.
