Elocution Competition: Format

You will be provided with various topics and depending on your age, you may be asked to prepare a speech for 2-5 minutes.

There could be multiple rounds. You may have to go through an elimination round before reaching the final round.

Elocution Competition: Evaluate Criteria

Here are the points on which teachers/judges evaluate the students participating in Elocution competitions.

  • Content: Your coverage of the topic.
  • Physical presence: How is your body language and poise. Do you make eye contact with the audience?
  • Voice and articulation: How is your volume, pace of speech, rhythm, intonation and pronunciation?
  • Language: How is your command over the language? Judges will look at the appropriateness and accurate use of language.
