coniferous forest: Lesson for kids

Some of the tallest and oldest trees in the world are in coniferous forests around the world. These giant trees are able to endure the cold winters and poor soil conditions found in the coniferous forest regions (Taiga).

Coniferous forest is generally found in the far north with a vast area of coniferous forest being found deep within the Arctic Circle. Evergreen coniferous forests stretch across Canada, Alaska, Northern Asia, and Northern Europe. Coniferous forests are predominantly made up of conifers (produce seeds in cones) which are the toughest and longest living trees in the world.

The typical triangle-shape of the tree in these forest allows it to collect and shed snow without breaking.

Coniferous Tree Project
Christmas tree is a coniferous tree. Want to make a coniferous project for your child for school?

Make a Xmas tree, and a Santa standing by (take print out and stick it on card board), add some white color to depict snow (you can use cotton). This is the simplest way to make a school project on coniferous forest.
