Telecommunication: Stay Connected Away From Home

With so much of technology available at our disposal, its reasonable to expect to be connected when away from Home, be it in a foreign country or just a few states away. Here’s a useful guide that will help you remain connected.

Although everybody knows that their phone or tablet can help them be connected, its the associated costs when traveling which pinches many.

When traveling, there are many who turn off data roaming completely to avoid those fees, and there are many who wish they knew how to turn it off.

So usually its a tough call, whether to pay the price, or cut off communications to minimize the costs.

But then, with a little pre-planning, you can find the right carrier and service plan that meets your travel needs, significantly reducing, or even eliminating, travel-related wireless charges.

So the next time you travel, before packing your bags, spend some time to find the best wireless company, device and data plan to fit your needs, and also make sure you have the right accessories too, including an international power converter.

Choosing a Carrier

I always prefer going in for the no-contract wireless service that gives me the freedom and flexibility without being locked into a service agreement for a year or more.

I would suggest you choose a data plan that gives you freedom and peace of mind (no shocking bill amount) and choose a phone company that focuses on customer service and provides more options to choose from.

There are carriers who offer unlimited data and texting worldwide, for a reasonable price.

Prepaid international calling cards are also quite popular and can be used to talk to friends, family when abroad; its offered by several wireless providers.

Using The Right Device

If you don’t already own an adequate device, shopping for a smartphone or tablet is quite easy nowadays. Just a matter of asking the right questions and you should be able to find a phone that will best meet your needs.

Currently, one of the more popular options is the Google Nexus 5; its lightweight, looks stunning, has speedy processor and comes LTE capabilities that offers the best experience for staying connected.

When selecting a phone, do remember to consider the following:

  • Device compatibility abroad
  • Looks, weight & size
  • Adequate Display size
  • Keyboard size and form

Depending on what phone who have, it may be a good idea to consider protection and upgrade options, just in case you break or lose your device when traveling.

These are some useful tips that will help you stay connected when traveling internationally.
