A personal SWOT Analysis is a useful development exercise that will help you evaluate yourself in order to better plan for the career.
A lot of students in management schools are encouraged to do their personal swot analysis. However, not many of them are very clear about how to use this tool. While the strenghts and weaknesses are clear to them, many of them are not very clear about what they should be wriing under opportunities and threats.
Here is an example of a personal swot analysis written by a student:
Compare your strengths and weaknesses (development areas to the list of key employability skills/attributes).
Strengths:
- Ability to solve problems.
- Ability to work in teams.
- DEcision making skills
Weaknesses:
- Numeracy skills
- Ability to relate a subject to the wider social & economic context.
Opportunities:
- Team work – this will help me work efficiently at my job. I shall take up additional courses online to improve on my strengths and weaknesses.
Threats:
- Poor time planning
- I can get distracted very easily.
