“Another Brick In The Wall” written by Roger Waters and music by Pink Floyd. Here’s the real message of the song.
Roger Waters wrote the lyrics of the song “Another Brick In The Wall” (music by Pink Floyd); in the song, he pens his thoughts about the formal education prevalent in the 70s and 80s.
In this song, the wall refers to the emotional barrier that students build around themselves in school either because they are unable to comprehend what is going on, or out of fear of punishment or getting insulted in class.
And every time this happens, the students withdraw further and puts up “another brick in the wall”.
The Pink Floyd songs talk about the time when punishing students was the norm, and many times these punishments would be brutal which created an environment of fear in school.
Because the environment in school back then was more of fear, students started retreating to their own cocoons. Students would not express themselves, they started building emotional barriers, and many students suffered psychological damage due to these reasons. And because of these reasons, the songwriter says that education is not worth it.
